Does anyone know if you can bridge a Pyle Mini 75-watt Car Stereo Power Amplifier?
It is 2-channels, but it doesn't say anywhere that it is bridgeable or not. Here is the website with all the specs: http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/Pyle-Mini-75-watt-Car-Stereo-Power-Amplifier/3657488/product.html?cid=123620&fp=F&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=11720673#TABS Probably not since there is no 1 channel bridged spec. This is a very odd little piece, and I would recommend against buying anything made by pyle. odinsragess | Read more Will this power my speakers? I've been thinking about buying this < http://www.amazon.com/Pyle-PCA1-15-Watt-Stereo-Amplifier/dp/B0012KZNP4/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top > amplifier. It says "2 x 3 watts (4 ohms @ 1% THD), 2 x 4 watts (4 ohms @ 10% THD)", but idk what that means. Can someone explain that to me? Or just answer my question? I have two speakers, each of which says on the back 50 Watts. I don't know if that's the max number of watts you can put into them, or if that's the minimum. SO. Will this amp work for my speakers? I'll give you five stars if you can point me at one that will! =D Thanks in advance! Yes, this will work, the rating on the back of your speaks of 50 watts is the maximum sustained power that they can dissipate without damage, although they will probably start to get distorted long before that. The amplifier you are looking at here should be able to deliver a comfortable listening level of sound, but you aren't going to be shaking the house down by any means. It's really intended to hook an MP3 player, or computer into and power a small set of book-shelf speakers at "normal" listening levels. That doesn't mean normal for a dance club. If you want to listen at level where you are just starting to not be able to talk to someone else in a normal voice next to you, this amp should do it, but not a whole lot more. It depends on the efficiency of your speakers. Some speakers take a lot more power to drive them than others. If you ever look at the specs of speakers you may see an SPL (Sound Pressure Level) rating, which measures the decibels of sound it produces 1 meter from the speaker being driven with 1 watt of power. SPL ratings on speakers can vary by 6 to 9 db. Sound levels and amplifier power are a little confusing. To increase the db output of a speker by 3db, you have to double the input power, so if you have a speaker that is 9 db more efficient than another speaker, you would need 2X2X2, or 8 times more amplifier power to give the same sound levels. Another way to look at it, with an efficient speaker design a 100 watt amplifier can produce as much "sound", as an 800 watt amplifier on a less efficient speaker. What I'm saying is that with that amplifier, don't be expecting to annoy the neighbors, unless your speakers are pretty efficient. I want to drive two sets of powered speakers off one earphone jack on my PC. One set will be adjacent to the PC ( I will call that set my local speakers). The other set of powered speakers will be connected by 60 ft. of speaker wire which already exist in my walls and ceiling running from my PC to my family room (I will call that set my distant speakers). I wondered what kind of amplifier is needed to connect both my local speakers and my distant speakers to the PC earphone jack (so that I can listen to Pandora etc off my PC). Will the Pyle Home PCA1 Mini 2 x 15-Watt Stereo Power Amplifier (http://www.amazon.com/Pyle-PCA1-15-Watt-Stereo-Amplifier/dp/B0012KZNP4/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top) do the trick? If not, could you suggest a reasonably priced amplifier/speaker selector that will do the trick by brand and model number or an online site that would have such an amp. BTW, the distant speakers do not have to be powered. I already own a pair of 4 (or 8??) ohm speakers that I could use as my distant speakers. Thank you, Joe S Looks like that unit will do the trick. Just get a "Y" adapter from the PC's earphone, or line-out jack. One leg of the Y can go to your local amplified speakers, and the other leg of the Y can go to the Pyle amplifier and on through your existing house wiring to your distant speakers. (You might need two adapters: 3.5mm plug to dual 3.5mm jacks, and a 3.5mm plug to RCA plugs - http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Splitter-3-5Mm-Stereo-Female/dp/B0009JFF7K/ref=pd_bxgy_e_text_b) For your local speakers, just use any typical amplified computer speakers (with a volume control). You don't need any kind of switch or anything, just turn up or down the volume controls for your local or distant speakers. Happy listening. Soundstream | Read more |
