Connecting a home theater amp to a dj amp for more power?
i have a DJ amp and im hoping there is a way i can connect it to my receiver because the output on my receiver is 105w per channel @ 8 ohms. the dj amp is a "PYLE PRO PPA450" Specs: PYLE PRO PPA450 4500 Watt 2 Channel Rack Mount Power Amplifier Features: Model: PylePRO PPA450 4500W 2 Channel Bridgeable Pro Audio Power Amplifier 4500 Watts Total Output Power Continuous Output Power: Stereo Mode: 20Hz to 20kHz, 8 Ohms 170W x 2 1kHz, 4 Ohms 220W x 2 Maximum Power, 8 Ohms 230W x 2 Maximum Power, 4 Ohms 260W x 2 Peak Power, 8 Ohms 1600W x 2 Bridged Mode: 20Hz to 20kHz, 8 Ohms 440W x 1 1kHz, 8 Ohms 440W x 1 Peak Power 4500W x 1 Dual Output Level Controls and Illumination Protection Indicator Input Level Indicator Blue LED Signal Activity Indicator Internal Cooling Fan Heavy Duty Aluminum Heat Sink Stereo/Bridged Mode Switch Ground Lift Switch Dual RCA and XLR Cable - 1/4" Jack Inputs for Balanced or Unbalanced Mode Banana Plug Style Binding Post Outputs AC Accessory Inlet 110/220 Volt Switchable Adjustable Input Gain Controls Specifications: Signal/Noise ratio: 100dB Distortion: <0.1% Frequency response: 10Hz-50 kHz less than +/- 3dB Input Impedance Balance: 20K Ohms Input Impedance Non-Balance: 10K Ohms Dimensions (H x W x D): 3.47" x 19" x 10.68" i have a receiver, its specs are: Manufacturer: Sherwood Part Number:RX-4105 General Product Type Receiver Width 17.3 in Depth 14 in Height 4.9 in Audio System Sound Output Mode Stereo Output Power / Total 200 Watt Amplifier Output Details 100 Watt - 8 Ohm - THD 0.08 % - 2 channel(s) ( Main ) Timer Sleep Bass Control Yes Treble Control Yes Built-in Display Fluorescent Additional Features A/B/A+B speaker switch Digital Storage Media None Connectors Headphone Jack Yes Radio Type Radio tuner - AM/FM - Digital Tuning Display Fluorescent display Preset Station Qty 30 Antenna Form Factor Loop AM / wire FM Auto Preset Memory Yes Turntable Type None Cassette System Type None DVD Type None CD System Type None Digital Player (Recorder) Type None MD System MD system type None Headphones Headphones Type None Microphone Type None Remote Control Remote Control Universal remote control - Infrared Remote Control (2nd) Type None Connections Connector Type 1 x Headphones - Front, 4 x Audio line-in ( RCA phono x 2 ) - Rear, 2 x Audio line-out ( RCA phono x 2 ) - Rear, 4 x Speakers output ( Click-fit x 2 ) - Rear Miscellaneous AV Furniture None Power Power Device Power supply - Internal Manufacturer Warranty i wondered if there's a way to attach the two or should i use my home theater receiver ac connect the amp to that?? The only way to connect to your receiver is through the headphone jack. The headphone jack output level will vary with the volume control. All you need is a standard 1/4 inch TRS to RCA cable: http://www.amazon.com/HOSA-STEREO-PHONE-3-3ft-RETURN/dp/B000068O1J/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1290009597&sr=1-5 Just keep in mind that that amp is not that much more powerful than your receiver, so you may be disappointed. The amp puts out 170 watts into 8 ohms and the receiver puts out 100 watts. That difference will be noticeable but not dramatic. Daniel K | Read more Can powered speakers attached by 60' of speaker wiring run off a PC earphone jack. What type amp is needed? I want to drive two sets of powered speakers off one earphone jack on my PC. One set will be adjacent to the PC ( I will call that set my local speakers). The other set of powered speakers will be connected by 60 ft. of speaker wire which already exist in my walls and ceiling running from my PC to my family room (I will call that set my distant speakers). I wondered what kind of amplifier is needed to connect both my local speakers and my distant speakers to the PC earphone jack (so that I can listen to Pandora etc off my PC). Will the Pyle Home PCA1 Mini 2 x 15-Watt Stereo Power Amplifier (http://www.amazon.com/Pyle-PCA1-15-Watt-Stereo-Amplifier/dp/B0012KZNP4/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top) do the trick? If not, could you suggest a reasonably priced amplifier/speaker selector that will do the trick by brand and model number or an online site that would have such an amp. BTW, the distant speakers do not have to be powered. I already own a pair of 4 (or 8??) ohm speakers that I could use as my distant speakers. Thank you, Joe S Looks like that unit will do the trick. Just get a "Y" adapter from the PC's earphone, or line-out jack. One leg of the Y can go to your local amplified speakers, and the other leg of the Y can go to the Pyle amplifier and on through your existing house wiring to your distant speakers. (You might need two adapters: 3.5mm plug to dual 3.5mm jacks, and a 3.5mm plug to RCA plugs - http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Splitter-3-5Mm-Stereo-Female/dp/B0009JFF7K/ref=pd_bxgy_e_text_b) For your local speakers, just use any typical amplified computer speakers (with a volume control). You don't need any kind of switch or anything, just turn up or down the volume controls for your local or distant speakers. Happy listening. Soundstream | Read more In-Ceiling speaker system question? Im hooking up an in-ceiling speaker system for my new house. I ordered 6 speakers, 5 in wall volume adjustment knobs, and a Pyle PSS6 6-Pair High Power Stereo Speaker Selector. I thought I ordered everything I need, because the website said it was an "entire house kit" that had everything I need. But the more I look around, don't i need a stereo amplifier to power the speakers??? I dont think the speaker selector is an amp also. My question is, can I use an old CD player to hook into the speaker selector and use the wattage from my cd player? Or can I use my home theater surround sound dvd player, which is rated 1000 watts to power the speakers? Or do I need to just buy a stereo amplifier??? Thanks for your time. PS Im looking for something cheap, around 100 bucks if possible. Thanks. You need a amplifier to run those speakers. It is possible to hook the speakers up to a basic stereo amp, like the Pyle PCA1 (link below), or a more sophisicated stereo receiver/amplifier, like a Yamaha RX-397 (link below). Most people, though, hook up speakers to a home theater receiver for use with surround sound from movies, music from CDs, or your iPod. An example is the Yamaha HTR-6230 (link provided below as well) If you do pick the home theater route, avoid a cheap home theater system that comes with it's own speakers. You don't need the speakers, and hooking one up to your in-ceiling speakers maybe very difficult. comixguru | Read more |
